Per Fredrik Pharo appointed new director of Climate and Environment at Norad

Per Fredrik Pharohas been appointed new director of Norad's department for climate and environment. He is currently director of Norad's department for Partnerships and redistribution.

- Among many well-qualified applicants, he was the strongest candidate, says Bård Vegar Solhjell, director of Norad.

- For over a decade, Per Fredrik Pharo has led the climate and forest initiative in the Ministry of Climate and Environment, and through that has worked closely with both forest, food and wider nature and forest-related topics. Through this, he has been responsible for developing a specialist field as well as managing large grants. He had a year's leave to write the so-called FOLU report, which is a solid and professional product looking at the connections between food systems, energy and land use in the work to abolish poverty and dealing with the climate and nature crisis.

- Through his work at Norad and his collaboration with Norad as he led the climate and forest initiatives in KLD, Per Fredrik also knows Norad and its administration well, and he has experience of working closely with both the ministries that Norad manages grants on behalf of.

Per Fredrik Pharo also has experience from the Ministry of Defense, research and private business.

- I have had a fantastic time in the department for partnership and redistribution, and now I am really looking forward to taking on other important and challenging tasks in the department for climate and environment, and at the same time contributing to Norad as a whole delivering the best possible assignments from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Climate and Environment, says Per Fredrik Pharo.

Per Fredrik Pharo takes up the position as director of the Department for Climate and Environment on 1 September.
