Evaluation of Norfund's investments in renewable energy

The evaluation will look at how Norfund operationalises its mandate to achieve sustainable development in practice and has achieved its objectives.

Norfund is the Norwegian government's investment fund for businesses in developing countries and is intended to provide equity and other risk capital, as well as loans and guarantees, in order to create jobs and help improve living conditions by investing in businesses that promote sustainable development. Norfund invests in renewable energy to give businesses and households in developing countries increased access to electricity. Norfund also manages the Norwegian Climate Investment Fund for renewable energy in developing countries (the Climate Investment Fund), which aims to help reduce or avoid greenhouse gas emissions. The purpose of the evaluation is to assess how Norfund operationalises the two mandates in practice and has achieved its objectives.
