Building Skills for Jobs – Technical and Vocational Education and Training

The overall objective of the programme is that people have job relevant skills. In the long term this is expected to lead to more people finding employment in the local job market.

Building Skills for Jobs is part of Norway’s prioritization of education globally.

Funding can be granted to projects that prioritize initiatives at a level equivalent to upper secondary school or lower.

Partnerships between business sector actors and educational institutions are required.

Relevant applicants include:

  • Companies
  • Organisations
  • Actors in the business and employment sector
  • Business associations
  • Educational institutions 

The organization named as the main applicant must be registered in Norway.

Priority will be given to projects in the following countries:

  • In Africa: Ethiopia, Liberia, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda
  • In Asia: Afghanistan, Indonesia, Jordan, Lebanon, Myanmar, Nepal, Palestine, Syria
  • In America: Brazil, Colombia, Haiti.

This application-based programme is part of Norway’s prioritization of education for development as presented in White Paper no. 25 (2013–14) to the Storting: Education for Development.

Call for proposals 2017

The call is open for projects lasting up to four years, with start-up early 2018.

The final deadline for submitting applications is 6 October 2017, at 15:00 CET.

Each project may be awarded up to NOK 3 million per year (maximum NOK 12 million in total). The total funds made available in this call are up to NOK 50 million.

The call is managed by The Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Education (SIU) on behalf of Norad.
