Syntesestudien bygger på kunnskap fra evalueringer og andre rapporter for å kartlegge de største utfordringene for sivilsamfunnsaktører i fem land i det østlige og sørlige Afrika (Etiopia, Malawi, Mosambik, Uganda og Zambia), samt diskutere sivilsamfunnets respons. Formålet er å frembringe evalueringskunnskap for å informere strategier og tiltak i felt knyttet til sivilsamfunnsorganisasjoners arbeid med demokrati og menneskerettigheter i det globale sør. Syntesestudien søker å reflektere perspektiver fra sør.

Arbeidet er utført av Norsk Institutt for By- og Regionforskning (NIBR) ved Høgskolen i Oslo og Akershus (OsloMet).

This synthesis study builds on evidence from evaluations and other reports to lay down some of the key challenges faced by civil society actors in five countries in Eastern and Southern Africa (Ethiopia, Malawi, Mozambique, Uganda and Zambia), and to discuss civil society’s response. The purpose is to utilise such evaluative knowledge to inform strategies and efforts in the field about CSOs’ democracy and human rights work in the global south. The synthesis study seeks to reflect a southern perspective on this work.

The work has been carried out by the Norwegian Institute for Urban and Regional Research (NIBR) at Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences (OsloMet).
